Why I love this post type

  • This is hands down my favourite post type because it hits credibility, connection, expertise, and offer all in one shot.
  • People don't just buy the product. They buy you.
  • They buy with emotion, not logic. And transformation stories trigger both.
  • The lesson is what makes it attractive.

Why a win alone is not enough

When you share only the win, people miss what you went through and what helped you change. You lose the chance to help them see themselves in the story.

Step 1 of 5

Result: what changed in your life or work

Name the real win, shift or change first.

From Marc's own post, “I am not a "Mr. Nice Guy" anymore...” (2025). Excerpt; full post.

I am not a "Mr. Nice Guy" anymore...

Result: I open with a change in who I became.

Brain-dump 20 "Coolest Things" about yourself. Wins, traits, turning points. Then use them to share as topics when starting out.

Pause here and try this step with your own story of a real change in your life or work.

Step 2 of 5

Resistance: what was hard before the change

Show what life was like before and what got in the way.

From Marc's own post, “Why I’m actually HAPPY that 2023 marked the slowest start to my new year ever…” (2023). Excerpt; cross-post variant.

Hey folks, while I’ve had a super slow & “unproductive” 2023 so far, I am actually HAPPY about it (not kidding). The thing is, if this happened to me just 1 or 2 years ago, I’d have been extremely frustrated & unhappy as I’d felt guilty for not spending more time on my business or career instead.

Result: I feel happy now. Resistance: I used to feel frustrated and guilty.

Share what happened before you achieved the outcome. What were your struggles? What were your problems? What did you face?

Step 4 of 5

Resolve: what you did to make the change

Describe the actions that helped the change happen.

Your post outline

Name what you actually did to help it happen.

In my 2021 post

I invested in learning and kept going after feeling embarrassed.

These are my actions in “My friends thought I was making a huge mistake.”

Explain how you got there rather than announcing the result.

Step 5 of 5

Reflect: what you learned that could help your reader

Share a useful lesson for someone in the same situation.

From Marc's own post, “Disclaimer: Long Post Ahead” (2021). Excerpt; full post.

2. Be transparent with what you can do and what you can’t do. Never aim to be someone you are not. Especially in today’s world where everybody is trying to sell you how great they are, be authentic and share what you are good at, and what you aren’t good at. The world is skeptical enough as it is, don’t contribute to it by trying to portray yourself as knowing everything. Remember: you are not here to serve everyone, and that’s completely ok.

Reflect: I share advice about being clear about what I can and cannot do.

The lesson is what makes it attractive.

From Marc's own post, “My friends thought I was making a huge mistake.” (2021).

My friends thought I was making a huge mistake. In 2016, I graduated with a Banking & Finance degree, but it didn't matter. Because instead of joining a high paying role in a bank or fund management firm like many of my peers, I chose to join the startup scene instead. Not only did it come with lower pay than what I originally expected, but the role would also be uncertain and messy too. And while many of my friends were on their way to earning huge sums with their cushy jobs & careers through the years, I took multiple pay cuts, job switches, and had to struggle with massive routs of self-doubt and nervousness too. In addition, I took even bigger risks by investing a huge chunk of my salary into programs, courses & coaching, with the risk that it’d never work out.

And I remembered many years ago, while catching up with an old group of friends, someone sarcastically asked me this: “How? Become millionaire already or not?” I wasn’t - and was so freaking embarrassed. Thankfully, I did not let that episode stop me, and kept going. Because if I stopped, I would not have been able to start a side hustle that allowed me to achieve a 6-Digit Income for 3 Years running while enjoying what I do each day, grow my portfolio to multiple 6 figures, and making a difference to >3000 people worldwide along the way. Which is why if you’re currently “hustling”, working hard & struggling to achieve your desired goals & dreams right now, here’s my quick message for you:

💪 Have Faith, and Keep Taking Action - In short, don’t give up. 💪 Ask for help & support - You don’t need to do it alone. 💪 Get feedback & get better - don’t keep doing the same thing if you haven’t been achieving your desired results, it might be time to make a change. 💪 Surround yourself with the right people - is your social circle currently pushing you down, or pulling you up? And when you apply the above & keep going…it’s a matter of time before you get there. You Got This!
